My Start-up Life

The journey from being a leader of multiple technologies teams in a diverse set of industries to a start-up co-founder might seem natural and straight-forward but I do not think it is. I also believe there are many people in my professional network who have thought about making the leap themselves but uncertainty or doubt has held them back. We all fear unknown unknowns as Donald Rumsfeld use to call them:

Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don't know we don't know. And if one looks throughout the history of our country and other free countries, it is the latter category that tend to be the difficult ones.

So, I am going to write frequent short-form posts about the journey. What motivated me, what the process was like, what I have done well, what I have done poorly and learned from, and where I am today. My goal is to educate, give confidence to anyone thinking of doing this themselves, and - very important to me - hear back from anyone who has a question or comment. I'd like to use this to build new friendships and professional connections. Please reach out through comments or directly via DM on LinkedIn.
